Children's route – Variant B (with cable car)

  • Length: 13.3 km

Descend to the main crossroads in Pec, where you turn left and straight away left again (!) onto the cycle trail K1A, and continue on to Janovy boudy. Here, head left onto Kubát’s Way. This will take you up to your destination – the PECKA adventure playground. You can carry on up to the summit of Růžohorky, where you can get lunch. Take the same way back.

Warning – the trail takes you up a long hill. You can, if you want, leave the trail and drop down to the chairlift at Portášky, which will take you up to the PECKA adventure playground. An alternative is to the right of the Úpa River, where there are several children’s attractions. Carry on till you get to Velká Úpa, where the chairlift at Portášky takes you up to PECKA, and if you fancy, you can add on the climb to Růžohorky (farm, restaurant). You can follow the K1A trail (described at the start) back home.

Turn right just below the hotel uphill towards Richtrovy boudy, continue to Výrovka, from where you turn right, up to the saddle between Luční and Studniční hora, and the Memorial to the Victims of the Giant Mountains (from here you might want to drop down to Luční bouda and return the same way back). Back to Výrovka and this time carry straight on to Bouda Na Rozcestí. Continue on past Dvorská bouda as far as Přední Rennerovky. Below this point turn left and subsequently take the sharp turn left off the road. Continue over Zinneckerova strouha onto Vodovodní Way as far as Tetřeví boudy. Sharp left here (almost 180°) towards Lesní bouda. At Lesní bouda you turn right towards Hrnčířské boudy, and at Lučiny you go left and straight away left again. As soon as you cross the Mulda ski lift, you turn right (you will get to Pec if you head straight on, although the way is a little longer). From here, a tarmac road leads you right into Pec. Trail 4

Long, difficult; recommended for those who already know Pec and want to discover another side to the Krkonoše (picturesque Lysečin valley)

  • Distance: 43 km
  • Ascent: 1,300 m
  • Difficulty: 3/3

Variant A

Descend to the main crossroads in Pec, take a left and straight away left again onto the K1A. Follow this as far as Janovy boudy.

Variant B

Descend to the main crossroads in Pec, cross over the bridge and follow the left bank of the Úpa River down to Velká Úpa and the Portášky chairlift. You can ride this chairlift to the Portášovy boudy and from here get to Janovy boudy. From here both trails are identical. Carry on toward Spálený mlýn. Take the Pohádková Way (K24) into Dolní Malá Úpa, then on to Malá Úpa and the church, along Čapek Brothers’ Way to Pomezní boudy at Horní Malá Úpa. Here you can grab some refreshment at the local Trautenberk Brewery with its restaurant, which perhaps you’ve already sampled in our restaurant (the brewery naturally offers other types of specialty beers, e.g. the 14°, the 10° Summer Ale and many others). You can return along the main road and again drop down to the church at Malá Úpa. From here turn left along the Pohádková Way/ Čapek Brothers’ Way, and left again where the road forks. Left once more at Cestník along the Čapek Brothers’ Way. At Lysečinské boudy turn right up to Horní Lysečiny and straight on along the K1B as far as Dolní Lysečiny. Continue straight ion to Horní Maršov. If you’re feeling tired, here you can turn along the main road to Pec pod Sněžkou. Otherwise, join the Rudolf’s Way in the direction towards Pražačka. Carry on to Krausovy boudy, and continue round to Velké pardubické boudy, from where you reach the crossroads pod Černou horou and back to Pec. Alternatively, from Krausovy boudy you can climb up to the hill Signál, from there to Pěticestí, on to Václavák before dropping down to Pec pod Sněžkou. On this route you won’t meet many walkers, until you reach the point when both trails link onto the path from Černá hora to Pec.
